BrightManager is pleased to announce exciting updates to our platform, designed to enhance your experience and efficiency. Here’s what you need to know about our latest integration with BrightBooks.
Release Summary
You’ll now benefit from a powerful integration encompassing three key areas:
- Client Matching
- Invoices and Credit Notes
- Reporting
Prerequisite
To get started, please ensure you have these settings in BrightHub:
- Account Type = Practice
- Region = Ireland or UK
You also need active subscriptions to both BrightBooks and BrightManager under the same organisation in BrightHub.
1. Client Matching
To enable this integration, please make sure you have your clients set up in both BrightManager and BrightBooks. This allows us to help you match clients between the two systems. A designated member of your team will handle the client matching process.
2. Invoices and Credit Notes
Once your clients are matched and the integration is enabled, BrightBooks will automatically push your invoices and credit notes into BrightManager.
Creating Invoices and Credit Notes in BrightBooks
After enabling integration, you will create all new invoices in BrightBooks (not directly in BrightManager). You can still manage any legacy invoices already in BrightManager, but all new invoices and credit notes (including quick invoices and quick credit notes) created in BrightBooks will appear in:
- BrightManager Invoice List
- Each Client page > Invoices
- Debtors page
To manage or view any invoice, simply click the “Open BrightBooks” button to navigate to the Sales page in BrightBooks.
BrightBooks Invoices and Credit Notes page.
To view or manager the BB invoice, the user must click on the “Open BrightBooks” button to be directed to BrightBooks > Sales page.

Marking Invoices as “Paid”
To mark an invoice as paid, go into BrightBooks, select the relevant invoice, and use the arrow to choose “Pay.” You’ll be taken to Banking > Bank Accounts > Customer receipt, where you can select all outstanding invoices for a customer and mark them as paid. These payment updates will then reflect in BrightManager.
They will be directed to the Banking > Bank Accounts > Customer receipt page.
On this page they can select all the pending invoices for the specific customer they want to mark as paid.
Once this has been done, the invoice in BrightManager will appear as paid.
Allocating Credit notes
You can allocate credit notes to invoices in BrightBooks. If the credit note is less than the invoice amount, the invoice will be marked as partially paid. If it’s more, the invoice will be shown as paid and the credit note as partially paid. These statuses are also updated in BrightManager for your convenience.

Marking WIPs as “Invoiced”
You can now manually allocate Work in Progress (WIP) to specific invoices directly from the WIP page. This ensures you can accurately track the work you’ve completed and link it to the right invoice. Simply raise your invoice in BrightBooks, then allocate the relevant WIP to that invoice within BrightManager.
For step-by-step instructions, please see our WIP Allocation guide:
