BrightManager is pleased to announce the following updates made on our platform.
Release Summary
Beta release: 5th September 2024
Live release: end of September 2024
Due to a change in legislation, KYC (Know Your Customer) information is needed to validate users identity. You must complete your KYC by the 24th of September to continue using their SMS service otherwise their number will be suspended.
We have added a new submenu in Settings > SMS Configuration, where you can manage your SMS settings and complete your KYC. Twilio uses a company called Persona to do ID checks, the uploaded documents are only stored for a Maximum of 90 days by Persona and not by Twilio.
Existing Users
Clockwork
Existing Clockwork users can carry on using their business name to send SMS as usual, however this service is now deprecated, and removing it will be final.
On the page we have explained that once you remove this service you cannot sign-up for Clockwork anymore. If you click on 'Remove SMS' button a modal will pop up to confirm their decision and remind you that this cannot be reversed.
If you wish to use SMS services again, you can apply for a number to send and receive messages. However you will no longer be able to send SMS with your business name.
Twilio
If you are an existing Twilio user and you go to your SMS Configuration page you will be asked to complete your KYC by the 24thSeptember if you haven't done so yet. If you fail to complete your KYC by the 24th September then your number may be suspended as you will not be compliant with the new legislation. If you remove this service prior to 24th September and sign up for SMS again, then you will be forced to complete your KYC before you can apply for a number and use the SMS feature.
On the page there's a 'Get started' section where you need to select whether you are an individual, UK registered company or an unregistered company. You will then be directed to the KYC form based on what you selected.
An unregistered company will need to upload their Excerpt from the commercial register, whereas if you register your number as an individual then you would either have to upload your passport or your government-issued ID.
You will be notified if it went successful or failed. If it fails you will be provided with the reason so you can take the necessary action. Once successful you can purchase SMS credit to message your clients.
New users
You will only see the 'Get started' section to help you complete your KYC. Once you complete your KYC form it will take up to 24 hours for your details to be verified. If it fails you will be notified. If the verification goes through successfully you will be notified and issued with your new registered SMS number.
